The Prophet Jeremiah – The Curse
The Prophet Jeremiah told Israel that the LORD said to him, “Even if Moses and Samuel (renown Prophets) were standing here pleading with me for their sakes, I would not show these people any mercy”. “Make them go away; make them get out of my sight.”
Jer 15:1 Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.
GOD could no longer tolerate Israel and her evil wayward ways. HE had been patient and long-suffering with her and only chastising her to no avail. HE finally gave her the punishment of the Covenant, the curses in four parts: death; the sword; famine and captivity.
Jer 15:2 And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.
Jer 15:3 And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.
Jer 15:4 And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem.
Israel had rejected GOD as a stiff-necked people with hardened hearts bent on evil; refusing to listen to the Prophets of GOD, and refusing to submit to HIM. She killed her Prophets and disobeyed GOD; replacing HIM with other gods. She had been unfaithful, forsaking GOD and HE finally let her go her own self-willed way.
The Divorce
After periods of chastisements proved ineffectual, GOD was, under HIS, Holy and Divine Counsels of Justice, “compelled” to take other measures. Under the Covenant there are rewards and blessings for obedience and punishment and curses for disobedience. The punishment is spelled out in the curses of the Law written throughout several books in the Old Testament, the Books – Exodus to Deuteronomy. The final punishment (curses) was inflicted on Israel and in addition, GOD put Israel away with a bill of divorce while creating provisions for the reserved remnant for future service.
Jer 3:8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
Jer 15:7 And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways.

The Reserved Remnant of Israel
GOD has a reserved remnant “generation” which HE will initiate provisions made for Israel, due to the bill of divorce. GOD is judicial, righteous and does everything in a Legal and Holy manner which demanded a divorce from Israel whom HE had Loved. However, as always HE retained HIS remnant to fulfill HIS WORD.
Mic 5:3 Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.
Rev 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
Rev 12:2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.
